Gyeongnam Police Agency Holds Safety, Communication, and Empathy Workshop

112·Over 230 Regional Police Mid-Level Managers Attend

On the 14th, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency held a safety, communication, and empathy workshop for mid-level managers of 112 and local police.


According to the provincial police agency, the workshop, held for the first time in three years due to the impact of COVID-19, was attended by about 230 staff members, including 112 situation room chiefs, district chiefs, and police station chiefs from the provincial police agency and 23 police stations across the province.


The attendees unanimously agreed on the need for proactive preventive safety measures by the police, such as prior risk assessment and active preparedness to ensure public safety.

▲ Utilization of the repeated report detection system that automatically detects repeated reports in the system and provides this information to 112 operators ▲ Mobilization and operation of police station functional response teams ▲ Sharing of improved on-site response systems such as enhanced education, training, and cooperation frameworks.


They also discussed key current issues including establishing reporting and command systems, activating radio use during 112 call handling, thorough information sharing, enhancing accountability of police chiefs and other managers, strict adherence to basic duties of local police, reorganizing local police operational systems, boosting on-site vitality of local police, and strengthening ongoing education.


Chief Kim Byung-su said, “We had time to communicate with field police officers and share best practices, promising close cooperation for the early establishment of major policies this year, making it a time of communication and harmony. Let us work together so that the Gyeongnam Police can gain even more trust and love from the residents through this workshop.”
