Caught a 60cm Large Fish Barehanded on the Road... Unusual Weather Phenomenon in the US

A scene of a man in the United States catching a 60cm large fish with his bare hands in the middle of the road is becoming a hot topic. Due to abnormal weather, heavy rain poured down, bringing schools of fish onto the road.

On the 13th (local time), the US media Daily Mail reported that heavy rain over the weekend caused flooding in Fresno County, California, forcing about 10,000 residents to evacuate.

The media stated, "The river overflowed, turning the road into a sea of water," and "In Watsonville in this area, a driver was even caught on camera catching a fish about 60cm long with his bare hands on a road where vehicles were stuck due to flooding."

The reason for this phenomenon is the so-called "atmospheric rivers," which cause rivers to overflow. "Atmospheric rivers" are narrow, long bands of concentrated water vapor moving like rivers in the atmosphere, bringing heavy rain and snow. It refers to the movement of moisture-laden air from the Pacific Ocean across the western US toward the inland.

Experts say that due to the impact of climate change, this phenomenon is occurring more frequently than usual even in California, which is known for good weather year-round. The atmospheric river phenomenon has appeared in California since the end of last year, occurring 10 times up to this year.

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expects another atmospheric river event to occur this week. NOAA explained that heavy rain from San Francisco to Sacramento could cause rivers to overflow again.
