Party Leader and Floor Leader Launch Relentless Offensive
Kwon Seong-dong: "Pro-North Elements in Minnocho Are the Enemy of Workers"
The People Power Party launched a relentless offensive over the incident in which North Korean directive documents were found in the office of officials from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions.
On the 14th, Kim Gi-hyeon, leader of the People Power Party, stated on his Facebook, "We declare war against the pro-North Korean spy group by mobilizing all party forces," adding, "We will focus all our efforts not only on thorough investigations by the authorities but also on eradicating the pro-North Korean forces that are rampant in South Korea."

Kim also said, "This is nothing but the ugly truth of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, which has been manipulated by the pro-North Korean spy group and has become a double agent for the Workers' Party of North Korea," emphasizing, "The People Power Party cannot help but express grave concern over this matter, which is critical to the fate of the nation. The People Power Party will protect South Korea's national security."
At the morning floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Joo Ho-young pointed out, "We hope that the investigation into the distribution channels of anti-government slogans written in the North Korean directive documents, which have been used as protest slogans and banners by some domestic civic groups, will be thorough so that there is no negligence in eradicating pro-North Korean forces within the country." He added, "While we feel anger at North Korea’s ruthless exploitation of this national tragedy, we are also astonished that domestic forces are brazenly following these directives."
Assemblyman Kwon Seong-dong also wrote on Facebook, "The pro-North Korean forces always shout 'self-reliance,' but in reality, they receive even their protest slogans from North Korea. This is why they are called 'pro-North Korean'?because they are subordinate to North Korea," criticizing, "They have fully embraced North Korea’s rotten doctrine that 'the leader is the brain, and the people are the hands and feet.'"
He continued, "The pro-North Korean forces within the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions are truly the enemies of workers. They have corrupted labor unions, which were created to protect workers’ rights, into subordinate organizations for political struggles and have become hosts for pro-North Korean forces," urging, "We call on government authorities to enforce the law strictly. A nation that shows leniency to spies cannot survive."
In addition, Kang Min-guk, the party’s chief spokesperson, commented, "Following construction site violence, now even the spy union?labor reform is no longer a choice but a necessity for the normalization of South Korea," stating, "The only resolution the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions can make at the memorial for martyr Jeon Tae-il is to become the subject of labor reform themselves."
It was reported that the National Intelligence Service and the National Police Agency seized several North Korean directive documents during a raid on the office and officials of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, who are suspected of violating the National Security Act. The directives reportedly included slogans inciting protests for the resignation of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, as well as slogans such as "The people are dying" and "Resignation is mourning" during last year’s Itaewon tragedy.
