The First Step to Mobilizing Civic Competence, Comprising 226 Members from Various Sectors
The '2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee' (hereinafter referred to as the Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee) has officially launched to unite citizen capabilities for the successful hosting of the Islands Expo.
Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that the Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee held its launching ceremony on the 14th at Yeosu Culture Hall and has begun full-scale activities.

The Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee consists of 226 members, symbolizing the 'year of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo,' bringing together citizens from all walks of life aged from their 20s to 80s, including political, cultural, economic sectors, and civic organizations.
They will carry out tasks in four subcommittees: ▲Policy Planning ▲Citizen Activities ▲External Public Relations ▲Island Development, and will hold private-sector events to consolidate citizen capabilities. Additionally, they will actively participate in domestic and international promotions and visitor attraction activities to build pre-event momentum.
On this day, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu presented appointment letters to the male and female representative committee members and handed over the Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee flag to Chairman 000.
The attendees performed a performance connecting the Expo’s theme, ‘Island, Sea, Future,’ and then shouted ‘WITH’ together, pledging strong determination for the successful hosting of the Islands Expo.
Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, “The 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo will be an opportunity for our Yeosu to take a step forward,” adding, “The Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee is expected to play an important role as a focal point for the successful promotion of the Islands Expo, facilitating communication, harmony, and cooperation among citizens.”
Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo will be held for 31 days from July 17 to August 16, 2026, in the Dolsan Jinmo district area.
