The National Gwangju Science Museum will operate a science museum metaverse on its website starting from the 15th of this month to celebrate its 10th anniversary and the opening of the Artificial Intelligence Hall.
The National Gwangju Science Museum Metaverse is a platform that enables interactive real-time communication and educational program operation, creating an online virtual space that closely replicates the museum's main facilities and buildings.
The metaverse, where visitors can vividly enjoy the National Gwangju Science Museum in an online space, was established to provide non-face-to-face online educational services without spatial and temporal limitations, in line with the recent accelerated digital transformation.
Starting in April, various educational programs will be launched, beginning with the metaverse-based education program "Let’s start! AI Engineer."
In addition to the currently opened AI-themed science classroom "AI Lab" in the Artificial Intelligence Hall within the metaverse, various science classrooms such as the "Starlight Nuri Hall" and "Observatory" for astronomy and camp programs, the CSI Forensic Science Team, and the Space Learning Center will be sequentially opened to offer diverse attractions and online educational services within the metaverse.
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director of the museum, said, "We are introducing a dedicated metaverse space that can be continuously utilized for education and various events at the museum in the future," adding, "The National Gwangju Science Museum aims to become a leading institution in science education that considers the trends of the times and the demands of education consumers, starting with the metaverse."
The National Gwangju Science Museum Metaverse is open to everyone for viewing and participating in education, and detailed information can be found on the National Gwangju Science Museum website.
