A citizen walking event wishing for the hosting of the World Expo in Busan took place around Busan North Port.

Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on the 14th that on the 11th, as part of the 2030 World Expo hosting wish event, the "Nationwide Expo Wish Walking Festival" was held at the North Port redevelopment site.

This event, organized by Busan City and the 2030 Busan World Expo Citizen Hosting Committee, was held to boost enthusiasm for the Expo bid ahead of the visit of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) inspection team to Korea in early April.

About 1,000 domestic and foreign participants who registered in advance joined the event. In addition to the walking event, more than 10 experience booths such as photo zones, tattoo printing, and traditional ttakji (Korean paper tile) games were operated, enjoyed by many families.

On the 11th, a walking event to support Busan's bid for the 2030 World Expo was held at Busan North Port Waterfront Park.

The participating citizens freely strolled from Busan Station Square to the interior of the waterfront park. They enjoyed a pleasant time relaxing by the scenic waterways and diverse green facilities created in the park.

It is known that citizen interest in the North Port redevelopment project, the event venue, is increasing, and inquiries about events related to the 2030 World Expo bid are continuing to come to BPA.

BPA plans to cooperate in providing various event venues related to the hosting in response to citizens' expectations wishing for the World Expo bid.

Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “The North Port redevelopment area will be the stage for the 2030 World Expo, which will write a new history for Busan,” and added, “We will do our best to achieve Busan’s hosting.”
