Efficient Management of Facilities Emitting Large Amounts of Environmental Pollutants

The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office will hold quarterly integrated environmental management public-private councils to efficiently manage integrated permit sites in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam areas under its jurisdiction.

The council is composed of the Nakdong River Office, Korea Environment Corporation (environmental expert reviewers), and environmental managers of integrated permit sites.

They will discuss legal amendments, explanations of the integrated permit system, sharing difficulties and suggestions from businesses, and directions for improving post-management tasks.

This year, the public-private council will be conducted for 61 out of 166 integrated permit sites in the jurisdiction.

The sites were selected from 11 industries that have completed integrated permits in the area, focusing on industries that have not held public-private councils in the past two years and industries scheduled to complete integrated permits by March next year.

The first quarter council will be held on the 24th at the Nakdong River Office annex meeting room.

The second quarter will sequentially cover designated and non-designated waste disposal industries, the third quarter will focus on other chemical product manufacturing and fertilizer and nitrogen compound manufacturing industries, and the fourth quarter will target petroleum refined product manufacturing and basic chemical substance manufacturing industries.

Hong Dong-gon, the head of the office, said, “Through the operation of the public-private council based on communication, we will support companies in smoothly complying with environmental laws and strive to enable businesses to autonomously implement the system.”
