First Diplomatic Schedule After Starting Third Term
Focus on Whether to Support Lethal Weapons to Russia
Chinese President Xi Jinping, who recently secured a third term, is expected to visit Russia as early as next week to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin.
According to major foreign media on the 13th, President Xi is reported to have a face-to-face meeting with President Putin next week, six months after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Uzbekistan last September.
For President Xi, this will be his first diplomatic schedule since the start of his third term, beginning with a visit to Russia. Earlier, on the 10th, Xi was re-elected as President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission.
The biggest point of interest regarding Xi's visit to Russia is whether China will agree to provide lethal weapons to Russia. Amid Western warnings about the possibility of China supplying arms to Russia, attention is focused on how far the two sides will elevate their level of cooperation.
