Geoje Vehicle Crash... 4 Occupants Concluded to Have Made 'Extreme Choice'

The cause of the vehicle fall accident that occurred on January 12 in Geoje, Gyeongnam, was concluded to be the occupants' extreme choice.

The Geoje Police Station announced on the 13th that multiple signs of intentional accident were found through the autopsy results of the deceased and forensic investigation of mobile phones.

According to the police, an SUV carrying four men broke through a wooden fence and fell 200 meters down a coastal cliff near Yeochajeonmangdae in Hallyeohaesang National Park, resulting in the death of all occupants.

They had visited the site the dawn before the accident to survey it and then left, and it was revealed that they were not originally acquainted.

The accident vehicle was confirmed to be a rental car, and conversations exchanged on their mobile phones before the accident also contained indications of an intentional accident.

The police conducted the investigation considering the possibility of a negligent accident as the site was remote and steep, and there were no streetlights nearby.

There were no tire marks from sudden braking on the ground at the scene, indicating that the vehicle speed was increased.

The police could not confirm how the four deceased met each other, but as there were no signs of homicide, the case was closed as an intentional accident due to extreme choice.
