Suncheon-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is set to actively promote the establishment of a Youth Culture Center to serve as a hub for various activities, exchanges, and communication among local youth.
According to the county on the 13th, the Youth Culture Center will be built with a total project cost of 2.24 billion KRW, located opposite Gyeongcheon in front of the county office. It will be a two-story building with a total floor area of 631㎡, scheduled for completion by the second half of this year.
The center will primarily feature offices, a book cafe, educational spaces, and rest areas focused on youth, but it will also be utilized as a multipurpose space accessible to various groups.
Through the establishment of this Youth Culture Center, the county aims to meet the demand for leisure and cultural enjoyment among young people, thereby increasing the life satisfaction of the younger population and revitalizing the region through communication and participation among local youth.
The county has been implementing various policies and projects with an emphasis on preventing the outflow of youth and expanding their influx, addressing the severe population decline among young people.
Additionally, centered around the Youth Culture Center, the county plans to support local youth in playing a pivotal role within the community through diverse initiatives such as youth entrepreneurship and the Youth Worker Seed Bank project.
County Governor Choi Young-il stated, “We plan to enable young people to participate responsibly in revitalizing Suncheon, a region facing continuous population decline and super-aging.” He added, “We will spare no effort in providing various supports so that the youth can lead the miracles of Gyeongcheon and Yangjicheon, which are adjacent to the Youth Culture Center.”
