"Shadow of Death Chilling"... Ruling Party Launches Relentless Offensive Against Leader Lee Jae-myung

Kim Ki-hyun "Lee Representative Shifts Responsibility to Subordinates"
Urges Democratic Party to Stop 'Bulletproof National Assembly'

The leadership of the People Power Party launched a fierce attack on the 13th, referring to the consecutive deaths of five close aides to Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

Kim Ki-hyun, the leader of the People Power Party, stated at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day, "The dark shadow of death and the shadow of gangsters surrounding Representative Lee are chilling and eerie, like the movie 'Asura,'" adding, "I remind you once again that no power can overcome the truth."

Kim then pointed out, "It is the basic attitude of a commander to take responsibility for the mistakes of subordinates," and criticized, "Representative Lee, on the contrary, is shifting even matters that fall under his responsibility onto his subordinates, raising doubts about whether he is qualified as a commander."

He continued, "Already five people have passed away. Even as the sad news about his close aides who helped him is being delivered, Representative Lee visited Gyeonggi Province for an on-site Supreme Council meeting and instead criticized the prosecution's investigation," adding, "Some Democratic Party members with common sense reportedly feel the same despair, wondering how someone who should bear responsibility for indirect homicide can behave like this."

Kim Jae-won, a Supreme Council member, also criticized at the meeting, "One can roughly guess Representative Lee's character by listening to the audio file from the presidential election campaign where he swore at his sister-in-law and brother, but I wonder what kind of character his close aides worried about that they died," adding, "I can only speculate that he might have constantly lied, shifted blame onto others to avoid criminal punishment, and even used violent language."

Seong Il-jong, the Policy Committee Chair, pointed out, "Except for a few discerning Democratic Party lawmakers, Representative Lee is being steadfastly protected by the Yoon Seok-yeol administration under the bizarre frame of opposition suppression and elimination of political rivals," and questioned, "Where does the political burden to fiercely protect Representative Lee in the face of five unjust deaths come from?"

Seong also emphasized, "Are you doing politics for a criminal suspect or for the people? To prevent a sixth and seventh sacrifice, Democratic Party lawmakers must take action."

Kim Byung-min, another Supreme Council member, said, "Isn't this the time for the political sphere to unite and thoroughly review the overall economy of our country and stabilize the market in preparation for any unforeseen circumstances?" He added, "I hope the main opposition party returns to the path of a party that truly serves the people's lives, not just rhetoric about livelihood. The beginning of that must be Representative Lee responding to the earnest call to step down from politics now."
