Continuous sortie training over two days from the 14th to 15th
Concurrent training including maximum armament installation
The Air Force will conduct sortie training to gain air superiority in wartime in connection with the South Korea-U.S. joint exercise "Freedom Shield" (FS).
According to the Air Force on the 13th, the Air Force will carry out a "day-and-night continuous sortie training" for 36 hours from the 14th to the 15th at key combat flying units such as the 20th Fighter Wing, conducting air operations continuously without distinction between day and night. Continuous sortie training is an exercise to maintain nonstop sorties to achieve preemptive air superiority, which is essential to neutralize the enemy's core forces in wartime and lead the war to victory.
Along with this, various training exercises to support air missions will be conducted on the ground simultaneously. The Air Force will conduct "maximum armament loading training," which involves quickly and accurately loading the maximum possible armaments on fighter jets, and "mass ammunition continuous assembly training," which supports sustained air operations by timely and sufficient ammunition supply. Additionally, the 17th Fighter Wing will conduct an "emergency runway damage recovery training," assuming a scenario where the runway is destroyed by enemy missiles or long-range artillery, to restore the runway and resume air missions.
Air Force units at all levels will conduct "night base defense training" to protect aircraft and personnel from enemy special forces during vulnerable times. The live-fire counterterrorism training will be conducted on the 16th by the 18th Fighter Wing jointly with the Navy's 1st Fleet Command and the Army's 102nd Armored Brigade around the Gangneung Olympic Park area in Gangwon Province.
On the 21st, an "Airborne Tactical Supply Point (ATSP) opening training" will be held to enhance capabilities such as operational area supply, emergency patient air evacuation, and emergency runway operation.
The Air Force stated, "Through this training, we will become proficient in operational procedures to respond to various types of enemy attacks and develop support measures for sustained operations to maintain an impeccable readiness posture for decisive battle."
