Nongshim announced on the 13th that it will export smart farms to Saudi Arabia following the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
On the previous day, Nongshim signed an MOU to export smart farms in Saudi Arabia. Earlier, Nongshim formed a consortium with the smart farm plant IT company ‘Formit’, as well as ‘Agro Solution Korea’ and ‘MS’. This MOU was signed between this consortium and Saudi Greenhouse, a leading agricultural cultivation and distribution company in Saudi Arabia. Nongshim will be responsible for the design and manufacturing of the smart farm system.
Through the MOU, Nongshim plans to install a smart farm in Saudi Arabia capable of producing Korean strawberry varieties year-round. Korean strawberries are globally popular for their size, sweetness, and taste. The total project scale of this smart farm initiative is 30 million USD. Nongshim aims to create new business opportunities exceeding 100 million USD in high value-added crops in the future.
A Nongshim official stated, “This MOU is expected not only to showcase the excellence of Korean smart farm technology in Saudi Arabia but also to contribute to agricultural development and improvement of food self-sufficiency.” He added, “We plan to successfully complete the project and use it as a starting point to further expand the smart farm business in Saudi Arabia.”
