Held Every Saturday for 3 Weeks in April
The Seoul Museum of History announced on the 13th that this year, the 'Seoul History Outing with Families' program for families with elementary school children will be held three times on Saturdays next month. The first session is 'Palace Exploration Team 1: Gyeongbokgung Palace' (15th), the second is 'Was there a Goguryeo Fortress in Seoul?: Achasan Fortification Group' (22nd), and the third is 'Exploring Joseon Royal Tombs in Seoul 1: Taereung and Gangneung' (29th), visiting three historic sites.
The journey to discover Seoul's historical and cultural heritage with families will be conducted entirely on foot. Additionally, historians specializing in ancient, Joseon Dynasty, and modern periods will provide explanations tailored to the children's level of understanding. With expert explanations and firsthand experience at the sites, parents and children will be able to enjoy a new and engaging perspective on history that is difficult to grasp from books alone.
The field trip is a free program lasting about four hours. It is suitable for families with elementary school children who can manage walking without difficulty. Applications will be accepted from the 15th to the 29th, and multiple applications for different sessions are allowed. The number of participants selected is 20 family teams per session, and if there are many applicants, selection will be made by lottery. Selected families should prepare personal items needed for the trip (water, snacks) and participate on the day of the event.
Lee Sang-bae, Director of the Seoul Museum of History, said, “Since we have increased the number of family field trips compared to previous years, we hope more citizens will participate and create precious memories. We will continue to develop various educational programs that allow people to experience Seoul’s historical and cultural heritage.”
