Exhibition of 50 Works Including Acrylic Paintings and Charcoal Drawings
Hyundai Department Store announced on the 12th that it will hold the exhibition "Jeju Island Dolttaengi and Galchi" at the Hyundai Premium Outlet Hyundai Children's Book Museum MOCA Garden until June 11th this year.
This exhibition introduces works featured in a picture book completed through the project "World Natural Heritage Villages, Embracing Picture Books," initiated by the nonprofit organization Jeju Library Friends with support from the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province World Heritage Headquarters. Visitors can view a total of 50 pieces, including acrylic paintings and charcoal drawings, created by 49 elementary school children attending schools near UNESCO-listed World Natural Heritage sites, who observed the surrounding natural scenery in detail.
Through this project, the children carefully observed Jeju Island's marine life such as jarid fish, red sea bream, and rockfish, as well as forests, trees, and various plants, completing paintings filled with their own imagination and individuality. Key works include "Red Sea Bream" by child artist Kim Geon-hyeok, "Galchi" by Um Seung-jin, "Gombineulgosari" by Lee Si-yoon, and "Stone" by Lee San-hee.
A representative of the Hyundai Children's Book Museum stated, "The will to protect and preserve the environment begins with a loving and observant attitude toward the nature around us, and this exhibition will be meaningful in that we can learn this through the children."
