Kyungsung University has been reselected as a certified university in the 3rd cycle of the ‘International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS)’ new certification evaluation.
The International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) is a certification of universities' internationalization capabilities, aimed at managing the quality of higher education institutions and expanding the attraction of outstanding foreign students. The project is led by the Ministry of Education and implemented by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
With this certification, Kyungsung University will maintain its degree program certification qualification for three years from March 2023 to February 2026. The certification results will be disclosed domestically and internationally in 11 languages on official Ministry of Education sites such as the Korea Study Abroad Comprehensive System, and the list will be provided for use by the Ministry of Justice and foreign governments.
Additionally, certified universities will receive benefits such as ▲simplified visa issuance procedures for foreign students ▲educational policy and financial project benefits ▲selection advantages for government-sponsored foreign scholars (GKS) ▲promotion of certified universities ▲expanded allowed working hours for foreign students in part-time jobs ▲unlimited quota for selecting foreign graduate students.
President Lee Jong-geun stated, “In line with the diversifying era of internationalization, we will develop various educational programs and build infrastructure to expand the attraction of outstanding foreign students and further enhance our status as a global university.”
Since being the first university in Busan to be selected in 2013 as a certified university for attracting and managing foreign students by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice, Kyungsung University has presented a leading model in attracting and managing foreign students through proactive global campus initiatives such as establishing English track curricula and creating specialized departments for foreign students.
