Busan Port Authority (BPA) donated 15 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross to support the recovery and reconstruction efforts for the earthquake damage in Turkey and Syria.
Since the earthquake in Turkey in February, BPA employees voluntarily raised 2.08 million KRW and added 600,000 KRW from the sales of handmade knitted bags and postcards they crafted themselves.
The entire donation will be used to aid the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
BPA collects a portion of employees' salaries to support underprivileged children in the local community and participates in sponsorship programs through a matching grant system, where the company matches the employees' donations.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “We hope this donation will be a small help to Turkey and Syria, which are struggling due to the massive earthquake, and that the affected residents will not lose hope and recover their daily lives.”
