The public parking lot in Wuman 2-dong, Suwon City, held a completion ceremony on the 9th and officially began operations.
A public parking lot with a capacity of 173 vehicles has opened in Uman 2-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 9th, Suwon City held a completion ceremony for the 'Uman 2-dong Public Parking Lot' at 5 Ajuro 27beon-gil, Paldal-gu, attended by Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun and others.
The Uman 2-dong Public Parking Lot has a total floor area of 5,151㎡, with 3 floors above ground and 4 levels (including the rooftop), accommodating 173 vehicles and 70 bicycles.
On the first floor, there are 6 parking spaces each designated for the disabled, transportation vulnerable groups, and electric vehicles. Construction began in April 2021 and was completed in December 2022.
Ajuro, where the Uman 2-dong Public Parking Lot is located (between Ajou University Intersection and Ajou University), is densely packed with commercial establishments, but parking space has been insufficient, causing serious parking difficulties.
The city expects that the construction of the Uman 2-dong Public Parking Lot will alleviate the parking shortage to some extent.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon said, "The parking lot has been built in an optimal location within walking distance of the Ajuro commercial area, so the number of citizens visiting here will increase," adding, "I hope this brings vitality to the commercial area that had been subdued due to COVID-19."
He continued, "We will continue to make efforts to secure parking spaces in other areas so that citizens do not experience inconvenience."
The Uman 2-dong Public Parking Lot will be temporarily operated free of charge. After completing the integration with the parking control system, it will switch to paid parking starting at the end of March.
