Life Extension by Step Count!... 'Walking Around the Earth'

Any resident of Jongno-gu can download the ‘WalkOn’ app and join the official Jongno-gu community to participate in the walking challenge

Walking essay contest from June to August, and stamp acquisition challenge planned for September to October

Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Munheon) is promoting the ‘Walking Around the Earth’ campaign from this month until November to encourage daily walking practice and contribute to residents’ health improvement.

Any resident of Jongno-gu can download the ‘WalkOn’ app and join the official Jongno-gu community (Walking Around the Earth with Healthy City Jongno) to participate in themed challenges and various events such as ▲Healthy Walking in Daily Life ▲Happy Walking Together ▲Special Walking in Jongno.

‘Healthy Walking in Daily Life’ involves a challenge to walk 50,000 steps per week and 200,000 steps per month, with mobile gift certificates awarded through a lottery.

Additionally, to encourage consistent walking practice, starting from the 11th of this month, the 11th of every month will be designated as ‘Sneaker Day’ with a non-face-to-face campaign to promote resident participation.

‘Happy Walking Together’ invites submissions of essays about happy memories or places while walking around every corner of Jongno, aiming to increase walking participation rates across generations and share and spread precious memories. This will take place from June to August.

Furthermore, in the walking-friendly season of September to October, the ‘Special Walking in Jongno’ challenge, where participants leisurely visit local historical and cultural sites to collect stamps, is also highly anticipated.

The challenge course includes Sejongno Park, Park Nosu Art Museum, Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum, Samcheong Park, Ihwa Village, and Gwangjang Market.

Mayor Jeong Munheon stated, “This is a meaningful campaign to protect residents’ health through daily walking practice and to create a sustainable healthy city,” adding, “We ask for your great interest in the resident essay contest and stamp challenge to be held in the second half of the year.”
