Health, Welfare and Medical Solidarity Holds Protest Rally in Front of the Democratic Party... "Opposition to the Nursing Act and Medical License Revocation Act"

The Health, Welfare, and Medical Solidarity held a rally on the 9th in front of the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, protesting the enactment of the Nursing Act and the Medical License Revocation Act.

On the morning of the 9th, the Health and Welfare Medical Solidarity, consisting of 13 professional organizations opposing the enactment of the Nursing Act, including the Korean Medical Association, held a protest in front of the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, against the Nursing Act and the 'Medical License Revocation Act' (expansion of license disqualification grounds).

In their resolution, they condemned, " If the 'Nurse Privilege Act' and the 'License Stripping Act' are enacted, the health care system of the Republic of Korea will collapse irreversibly, and the Democratic Party, which pushed it unilaterally relying on the majority seats in the National Assembly, must take responsibility for all the national damages caused by this."

Lee Jeong-geun, the full-time vice president of the Korean Medical Association, said, "As we have repeatedly asserted, the Nursing Act is a representative medical malpractice law that shakes the foundation of the current health care system, and the License Revocation Act is a reckless bill that tramples on the pride of medical professionals who protect the health and lives of the people," adding, "We must continuously inform the government, the National Assembly, and the public that it must be blocked by all means and methods."

Park Tae-geun, president of the Korean Dental Association, who is on a hunger strike, said, "I want to do my best for senior and junior colleagues who may lose their right to livelihood due to the Medical License Revocation Act," and added, "I join in completely abolishing the Nursing Act, which causes division among medical professions and destroys the medical system."
