US and ROK Air Forces Conduct First 'Ssangmae Training' of the Year

The first 'Ssangmae Exercise' of the year was conducted to enhance the combined operational capabilities of the Republic of Korea and U.S. Air Forces.

The exercise took place at Osan Air Base, home to the U.S. 51st Fighter Wing under the 7th Air Force, with about 10 aircraft participating, including the ROK Air Force's F-15K fighters and the U.S. Air Force's A-10 attack aircraft, known as the "Tank Killer."

The exercise runs from the 6th to the 10th, during which the Air Force aims to improve wartime operational capabilities and teamwork, as well as exchange the latest tactics between the ROK and U.S. Air Forces.

The Ssangmae Exercise is a battalion-level combined air exercise that the ROK and U.S. Air Forces have conducted together since 1997. This year, a total of nine Ssangmae Exercises are planned.
