Korea Transportation Safety Authority Holds Consultative Meeting to Establish Railway Congestion Standards

The Korea Transportation Safety Authority announced on the 9th that it will hold a meeting of the Railway Operators Council at the Samgyeong Education Center in Seoul Station to establish congestion standards and management plans for trains and stations on railways.

The Railway Operators Council includes 25 railway operating organizations such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and Korea Railroad Corporation.


At this meeting, opinions will be gathered on criteria for determining congestion within trains or stations, measures for each congestion level, and management plans will be prepared.


Kwon Yong-bok, Chairman of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, said, “Through this council, we will establish a management system for congestion and strive to prevent related accidents by supplementing emergency response plans and on-site response manuals of railway operating organizations.”
