Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that merchants belonging to the Sacheon-eup Market and Samcheonpo Central Market merchants' associations have embarked on a tour of outstanding overseas markets to benchmark advanced markets in developed countries.
The delegation, consisting of 25 merchants from traditional market merchants' associations, will visit traditional markets in Taoyuan, Taiwan, over a four-day period from the 7th to the 10th.
This visit was conducted to benchmark cases of overcoming crisis situations due to changes in Taiwan's commercial districts for our traditional markets and to revitalize the local economy.
The Sangin Association of the traditional market in Sacheon, Gyeongnam, embarked on a tour of excellent overseas markets.
In particular, the purpose is not just to create a market that sells goods, but to develop it as a regional cultural space equipped with unique scenery, attractions, food, and entertainment.
On the first day, the 7th, the delegation toured Fengjia Night Market, one of Taiwan's two largest night markets; on the 8th, they visited Rainbow Village, which transformed from a retired soldiers' village into a famous tourist spot, and Fengyuan Market.
On the 9th, they will visit Dongmen Market in Hsinchu City to acquire various knowledge and techniques necessary for market revitalization, such as marketing and store management methods.
A city official stated, "This overseas outstanding market tour will provide our traditional market merchants with an opportunity to directly see, hear, and learn from excellent overseas cases, which will serve as a chance to enhance the competitiveness and revitalize our traditional markets."
