Uiryeong Toyoae Distribution, First Shipment of High-Quality Watermelons a Month Early

Increasing Shipment Volume by 1.5 Times Compared to the Previous Year

'Toyoae Watermelon' from Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, was first shipped on the 7th. The shipping period was advanced by one month compared to last year to stabilize farmers' income.

Toyoae Distribution will ship 390,000 watermelons (about 2,500 tons), a representative agricultural product of Uiryeong, from the first shipment until June.

Toyoae Watermelon is a high-quality watermelon produced in Uiryeong, an ideal area for watermelon production with fertile land near the Nakdonggang and Namgang rivers and clear water quality. Watermelons with a high sugar content of 11 Brix or more are separately selected and supplied to consumers.

Toyoae Distribution has shifted from a consignment business to a purchase business for watermelon shipments to increase farmers' income. They are making efforts to supply to Nonghyup logistics and large distribution companies to ensure stable income.

This year's watermelon shipment scale is planned to be about 1.5 times larger than last year's 260,000 watermelons (about 1,700 tons), totaling 390,000 watermelons (about 2,500 tons).

CEO Oh Jae-deok said, "We will ensure that all agricultural products produced by farmers are shipped at good prices and under good conditions."

County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, "Through the expansion of Toyoae Distribution's purchase business and incentives for high-sugar-content watermelons, we will achieve the dual goals of increasing farmers' income and improving consumer satisfaction."
