Seongnam City Provides Up to 700,000 KRW Cleaning Support for Hygiene Grade Certified Businesses

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide up to 700,000 KRW in cleaning costs to establishments designated with hygiene ratings.

On the 8th, Seongnam City announced that for the first time this year, it will pay the cleaning costs for kitchen facility ducts, hoods, ventilators, floors and walls of dining areas and rooms to 103 establishments in order to improve the hygiene level of restaurants and promote a clean dining culture.

The eligible establishments are general restaurants that have passed one year since being designated with a hygiene rating by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as of the cleaning cost application date.

Restaurants wishing to apply can submit their applications to the Hygiene Policy Division on the 5th floor of the East Building of Seongnam City Hall from the 13th to the 31st of this month.

A city official explained, "To guarantee consumer choice, restaurant hygiene ratings are classified into three levels: Excellent, Good, and Fair," adding, "In addition, we launched this cleaning cost support project to increase the re-designation rate of hygiene-rated establishments and create a safe dining environment."
