Engineer visit upon pre-inspection request after self-check
Samsung self-diagnosis alerts, LG differentiated paid cleaning service
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will conduct spring air conditioner pre-inspection services for about two months. The plan is to secure customers by providing inspection services before it gets hot.
On the 8th, Samsung Electronics Service announced that it will accept applications for air conditioner pre-inspection services until May 12. After customers perform self-inspection and apply for pre-inspection, professional engineers will visit to service the product, including checking cooling performance and refrigerant leaks. Travel expenses and repair costs (labor fees), excluding parts costs, are provided free of charge.
Applications for Samsung air conditioner pre-inspection can be made by calling the contact center or through the website.

The method of providing on-site service after pre-inspection is similar to LG Electronics. What differentiates it from LG Electronics is the notification service. When a push notification is sent to SmartThings, customers can check the air conditioner's refrigerant status and malfunction status through the application. SmartThings is Samsung Electronics' smart home platform. When visiting the service center, customers also receive a pre-inspection leaflet.
The 'Plus Inspection Service,' which provides additional free air conditioner inspection to customers who apply for refrigerator or washing machine on-site services, is also a differentiating factor from LG Electronics.
On the other hand, unlike Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics operates a paid additional cleaning service called 'LG Best Care.' By using the 'Home Appliance Cleaning Service' of LG Best Care, experts disassemble, clean, and sterilize the product. The air conditioner is disassembled for high-pressure cleaning of the heat exchanger, steam sterilization, and deodorization treatment.

Both companies are focusing on pre-inspection guidance activities. Samsung Electronics Service has uploaded videos on the website and SNS (blog, YouTube, Instagram) showing how to perform self-inspections. Customers are guided to follow steps such as connecting the power outlet, checking remote control batteries, cleaning indoor unit dust filters, and testing the air conditioner operation.
LG Electronics has also posted self-inspection methods on the 'Customer Support' section of the LG Electronics website. Customers can receive self-inspection guidance text messages by contacting the customer service center. It helps check the air conditioner power connection status, remote control battery, and ultra-fine filter cleaning status. It also plans to provide self-inspection methods for system air conditioners through management offices, mainly in large apartment complexes.
Park Sung-min, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics Service Operations Team, said, "We provide pre-inspection services so that customers can use Samsung air conditioners comfortably in the summer," adding, "We will conduct pre-inspections throughout the year considering the usage period of each product to support customers in always using their products in optimal condition."
