Support for Early Retirement of 388 Old Diesel Vehicles
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will begin implementing the 2023 diesel vehicle emission reduction project starting from the 13th of this month to practice "2050 Carbon Neutrality."
The project scale includes 388 old diesel vehicles: 280 early scrappage of old diesel vehicles, 68 vehicles equipped with particulate matter reduction devices, and 40 new LPG cargo trucks.
The early scrappage support project targets diesel vehicles expanded from the existing grade 5 to include ▲grade 4 diesel vehicles (only those without reduction devices installed at the time of release) ▲grade 5 diesel vehicles ▲road-use type 3 construction machinery (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks) manufactured under emission standards before August 31, 2009.
The early scrappage subsidy amount is calculated by multiplying the support rate by the quarterly vehicle standard value assessed by the Insurance Development Institute, with the support amount varying depending on the vehicle type and year. After application, the Korea Automobile Environment Association assesses the amount and notifies the eligible recipients.
The particulate matter reduction device installation support project targets grade 5 diesel vehicles registered in Gurye-gun as of the announcement date. Support varies by vehicle type, and applicants must pay 10-12.5% of the device installation cost as their own contribution.
Additionally, the new LPG cargo truck purchase support project provides a fixed subsidy of 1 million KRW per vehicle when purchasing a new LPG 1-ton cargo truck after scrapping a diesel vehicle. This is given priority when applying together with the early scrappage support project for old diesel vehicles.
The application period is from March 13 to March 24, and applications can be submitted via in-person visits, online, or registered mail.
County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "Through active promotion of projects such as the diesel vehicle emission reduction project, we will create a pleasant and clean air environment and strive to realize carbon neutrality in Gurye-gun by 2050."
