"Applying AI to Industrial Production"... Largest Automation Industry Expo Held

The largest-ever Smart Factory and Automation Industry Exhibition, with participation from 500 companies, will be held for three days starting from the 8th at COEX.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and jointly hosted by the Korea Industrial Intelligence Association and COEX, the "2023 Smart Factory and Automation Industry Exhibition" opened on the 8th at COEX in Seoul. This is the largest-scale exhibition in Korea where domestic and international companies leading industrial digital transformation showcase a wide range of products and solutions featuring the latest technologies, from factory automation components to big data, IoT, robotics, and AI.

With growing interest in AI and digital transformation recently, the number of participating companies reaches about 500. Approximately 40,000 visitors are also expected. This is the largest scale ever.

In his congratulatory speech, First Vice Minister Jang Young-jin stated, "To respond to the global economic slowdown, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is prioritizing efforts to promote exports and investment, while from a mid- to long-term perspective, it is necessary to accelerate the use of AI across industries for fundamental innovation in our industry." He added, "The ministry announced the Industrial AI Internalization Strategy in January this year and is promoting various support measures such as AI commercialization projects based on collaboration between demand and supply companies."

Meanwhile, during the three-day event, in addition to product and technology exhibitions, about 100 conference sessions will be held as side events introducing the latest global technology trends related to digital transformation and excellent domestic and international application cases. Also, a 1:1 business matching program will be operated to facilitate collaboration between companies supplying digital transformation technologies and demand companies in manufacturing sites.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to provide detailed explanations of the Industrial AI Internalization Strategy to participating companies during the event, introduce newly recruited R&D projects and leading projects worth 61 billion KRW this year, and hold sessions to share and communicate policies with the private sector.
