Criticism of Government Forced Mobilization Solution on SNS
"No Path Can Be Made in a Place That Ignores the Truth"
"You cannot pave the way by turning a blind eye to the truth."
Former Blue House Chief of Staff Lim Jong-seok made this statement on the 7th through a post on social networking service (SNS), criticizing the government’s announced solution for compensating victims of forced labor during the Japanese colonial period.
In particular, former Chief Lim criticized, "President Yoon Suk-yeol is repeating a serious mistake."
Former Chief Lim expressed concern, saying, "The 2015 comfort women agreement made by the Park Geun-hye administration was a political compromise that ignored the truth and excluded the victims. Now, the Yoon Suk-yeol administration is trying to patch up the forced labor victim issue in a more humiliating manner than the comfort women agreement."
Former Chief Lim advised, "You cannot use the restoration of diplomatic relations as a pretext to bundle in distorted history. The government’s role is to record history truthfully and uphold principles without distortion, while separately pursuing practical cooperation."
Former Chief Lim said, "We hope that both Korea and Japan will overcome the unfortunate past and become true friends at heart. At the same time, we hope that the unfortunate history of the past is accurately recorded in the textbooks of both countries. The most important thing in history is the unmovable truth."
