Haenam-gun Launches Full-Scale Operation of Family-Friendly 'Family Eoullim Center'

Providing Family-Friendly Services as a Focal Point for Childcare and Caregiving

Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has completed the Family Harmony Center and began operations in March.

According to the county on the 7th, the Family Harmony Center was selected as a Living SOC Complex Project in 2019, with a total investment of 14.8 billion KRW, including 3.2 billion KRW in national funds and 11.6 billion KRW in local funds. It was built on the site of the old Haenam Public Library in Gyo-ri, Haenam-eup, with one basement floor, four above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 4,237㎡.

The first floor houses the public Haenam Daycare Center and the Together Care Center; the second floor includes a toy library, neighborhood cafe, indoor playground, and communication exchange space; the third floor contains the Haenam-gun Family Center, shared childcare space, neighborhood kitchen; and the fourth floor features an education hall.

In addition to the basic programs of each existing facility, new programs have been organized and promoted to serve as a hub performing comprehensive functions such as childcare, care, and family support, providing integrated family support services tailored to various family types.

New programs include the Family Coaching School for growing together with children, neighborhood kitchen programs offering family education by life cycle, sensory development play classes, family communication programs, Harmony Family Cooking Classes, and the global gourmet restaurant Kuukuu.

All tenants moved in by the end of last month, and facility operations officially began in March, with the opening ceremony planned for early next month.

Along with the opening of the Family Harmony Center, to alleviate nearby traffic congestion, parking space has been secured by creating 25 additional spaces in a nearby public parking lot in addition to 22 parking spaces within the center.

A county official stated, “We will do our best to operate the Haenam-gun Family Harmony Center as the best family culture and welfare specialized institution that grows together with diverse families, and as a family happiness space that improves the quality of life for various families.”
