Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station Operates Fire Facility Illegal Activity Reporting Reward System Year-Round

On the 6th, the Northern Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will operate a year-round reward system for reporting illegal acts such as the closure of fire facilities and emergency exits to establish autonomous safety management, including the maintenance and management of fire facilities in lodging facilities and multi-use establishments.

Anyone who witnesses illegal acts can report them by submitting a separate report form with evidence within 48 hours of witnessing the act, either by visiting, mail, fax, or information communication networks to the head of the relevant fire station.

The reporting targets include cultural and assembly facilities, large sales facilities, transportation facilities, lodging facilities, entertainment facilities, complex buildings, and multi-use establishments.

The main illegal acts include ▲closure (locking) of evacuation facilities such as emergency exits ▲damage to evacuation facilities such as fire doors and evacuation stairs ▲placing objects or installing obstacles around evacuation facilities such as stairs and corridors.

Rewards are paid to reporters after confirming the illegal act through on-site verification and review by the reward payment review committee. The reward for the first report is 50,000 KRW in cash or Onnuri gift certificates, and the total reward amount for reports by the same individual cannot exceed 200,000 KRW per month or 2,000,000 KRW per year.

A representative of the Northern Fire Station said, "Maintenance and management of fire facilities and emergency exits are crucial for protecting lives," and added, "We hope that fire safety culture will be established through active interest from citizens."
