About 80 residents, including children, parents, and child-related personnel, attended the discussion.

This discussion, in which Yeonggwang residents directly participated to determine the priorities of child policies, was conducted by dividing participants into six groups focusing on play and leisure, participation and civic awareness, safety and protection, health and social services, educational environment, and home environment.

As part of discovering projects necessary for creating a child-friendly city, the county selected the top 10 agendas through policy proposals by participants and open voting, and had an active on-site discussion to discuss implementation plans.

Various opinions gathered through the discussion will be reflected in Yeonggwang-gun’s four-year child-friendly city plan in the future and will be used for child policy impact assessments and other purposes.

The county plans to form a private governance group composed of children, youth, parents, and experts to further develop specific policies and present a blueprint for a child-friendly city in the first half of 2024.

Governor Kang Jong-man said, “Through the child-friendly city creation project to guarantee children’s participation and rights, we will create a Yeonggwang-gun where all children can grow up happily and healthily together with children, parents, and child-related personnel.”
