Yonsei University Department of Artificial Intelligence Wins 3 Awards at the Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards

The Department of Artificial Intelligence at Yonsei University's College of AI Convergence announced on the 6th that it received a total of three awards, including the 'Department with the Most Awards per Professor,' at the 29th Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards ceremony held on the 20th of last month.

The Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards is a paper award held annually since 1994 by Samsung Electronics to discover and nurture outstanding talent in the field of science and technology. This year, a total of 1,972 papers were submitted, of which 118 were selected as excellent papers.

Yonsei University's Department of Artificial Intelligence received the 'Department with the Most Awards per Professor' award, led by integrated master's and doctoral course students Min-ki Kwon and Jae-seok Jeong (advised by Professor Young-jeong Uh), and master's course students Min-ju Jo and Seung-ji Guk (advised by Professor No-seong Park), who won the gold and encouragement awards respectively in the 'Computer Science and Engineering' category. The 'Department with the Most Awards per Professor' is a special award given to departments with a large number of faculty members.

The gold award recipients, Min-ki Kwon and Jae-seok Jeong, revealed a new latent space of the generative diffusion model and proposed a method to generate various real images through it. The encouragement award recipients, Min-ju Jo and Seung-ji Guk, demonstrated improved performance and effective handling of irregular event data by reinterpreting the Hawkes process based on differential equations.
