Informal and Horizontal Communication Builds Policy Consensus Among Employees
Expectations to Discover Innovative District Administration Ideas Through Barrier-Free Convergent Administration
Discussion on Latest District Issues Such as 'Youth Junior Board' and 'Cherry Blossom Festival'
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) attracted attention by holding a 'Policy Consensus Talk' on the 3rd of this month in the district office planning situation room, where employees from various departments, ranks, and age groups freely discussed current tasks.
Mayor Lee Seongheon, who has always emphasized practical and communicative district administration, listened to diverse opinions from about 60 participants ranging from MZ generation young public officials to team leaders and senior executives, sharing the district administration's principles and policy directions.
The theme of this first consensus talk was 'Activation Plan for the Youth Junior Board,' and it proceeded with a presentation by the youth policy department, free discussion, and a dialogue with the mayor.
During the free discussion, junior and senior public officials sat mixed around an oval table and exchanged various opinions informally. Senior officials expressed empathy with the MZ generation employees' remarks on public service culture and policy projects.
Mayor Lee Seongheon also responded to a young public official's opinion that "motivation is needed for Junior Board activities" by saying, "We will ensure that employees who work hard and achieve good results receive appropriate rewards."
The 'Policy Consensus Talk' is scheduled to be held twice a month, with departments proposing topics that require diverse opinions and discussions on local long-standing projects, policy issues, civil complaints, and major events (such as the Cherry Blossom Festival).
For short-term tasks, detailed implementation plans are proposed during the 'Consensus Talk,' and for long-term tasks, ways to achieve goals and establish a foundation for promotion are sought.
The district plans to actively reflect the diverse perspectives and opinions of employees gathered here into policy sites.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "It is important to share each other's situations and work beyond departmental barriers to jointly devise measures for regional development and problem-solving," adding, "We expect that convergent administration will be revitalized through the Policy Consensus Talk and many creative district administration ideas will be discovered."

Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seungro and District Executives Conduct On-Site Safety Inspection of Vulnerable Facilities with Private Safety Experts
Over 300 Sites Including Steep Slopes and Construction Sites at Risk of Rockfall and Collapse During Thawing Season
Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seungro) is strengthening safety management of various facilities in preparation for the spring thawing season, when the risk of safety accidents is high.
The district designated February 17 to March 31 as the thawing season (February to March) safety management period, during which Mayor Lee Seungro, district executives, and private experts will jointly conduct thorough inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities in the area.
The inspection targets include over 300 vulnerable facilities at risk of rockfall and collapse due to ground deformation and cracks during the thawing season, steep slopes, construction sites, and other hazardous facilities. The Seongbuk-gu joint private inspection team will focus on ▲ground subsidence, cracks, and uneven settlement of buildings ▲safety conditions such as subsidence, cracks, bulging, and drainage blockage of retaining walls, embankments, and fences ▲crack conditions around earth retaining walls and installation status of struts and formwork supports ▲safety and maintenance status of facilities.
On the 6th, Mayor Lee Seungro conducted a joint on-site safety inspection with department executives at disaster-risk facilities such as Sunggok Market, vacant houses, excavation construction sites, and steep slopes within the district. They checked for potential disaster safety risks and incorporated private experts' opinions into the district's safety management plan to ensure residents' safety.
Minor issues found during inspections will be immediately corrected on-site, and facilities with potential accident risks will undergo repair and reinforcement work. Particularly, high-risk facilities will be subject to detailed inspections with relevant experts to enhance inspection effectiveness and systematically manage risk factors.
Mayor Lee Seungro of Seongbuk-gu said, "Thawing season safety inspections are directly related to the safety of our 450,000 residents. We will prevent various accidents through thorough and regular management of high-risk facilities," adding, "We also ask residents to check for risk factors around their homes in advance and pay attention to preventing safety accidents, and to report any discovered risks immediately."
