Public Procurement Service-Naver, 'Data Collaboration' Public-Private Price Comparison

The Public Procurement Service (PPS) is collaborating with Naver to establish and operate a price comparison system between public and private shopping malls.

According to the PPS on the 6th, this system features the visualization of price data from private online shopping malls owned by Naver alongside the prices of items registered in the PPS comprehensive shopping mall.

Built to eradicate unfair pricing practices in the public procurement market, this system will continuously monitor whether procurement companies sell the same items in the private market at prices lower than those in the public market.

The PPS plans to initially apply monitoring to electronic and office equipment (65 items under focused price management), such as computers and heating and cooling devices, and gradually expand the range of monitored items.

The collaboration with Naver is being promoted as part of strengthening data linkage and utilization, a core value of the national agenda "Implementation of a Digital Platform Government."

The PPS began consultations with Naver in June last year and created the first data collaboration case within eight months.

Lee Jong-wook, Administrator of the PPS, said, "We expect the price comparison system to remain a model case in government innovation and proactive administration through public-private cooperation," adding, "The PPS will continue to strive to realize innovative procurement services by combining private big data with creative ideas."
