Samsung Introduces Latest Medical Devices at European Society of Radiology Congress

Attempt to Host Eco-Friendly Exhibition for Environmental Protection

Samsung Electronics and Samsung Medison participated in the 'European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2023,' the largest medical device exhibition in Europe held in Vienna, Austria, from the 1st to the 5th, showcasing various imaging diagnostic devices such as ultrasound and digital X-ray. They shared core values such as diagnostic efficiency, mobility, and connectivity demanded by customers through the exhibition.

In the ultrasound sector, Samsung Electronics and Samsung Medison introduced premium diagnostic devices for radiology, including the ‘RS85 Prestige’ and products like the ‘V8’ and ‘V7,’ which were introduced to Europe for the first time. These products feature precise diagnostic functions that help medical professionals make accurate decisions and support research activities with clear images. The two companies also showcased the small-sized probe ‘miniER7,’ which reduces patient discomfort during prostate ultrasound examinations. Additionally, they presented technology that displays liver fat content as a percentage for diagnosing fatty liver.

In the digital X-ray sector, they introduced the Vision function of the ‘AccE GC85A,’ which applies Samsung’s latest camera solution to enhance continuous patient monitoring and shooting convenience. They also showcased the ‘AccE GM85,’ equipped with a high-performance battery capable of approximately 10 hours of shooting on a single charge, and a detector (the core X-ray device that detects X-rays and converts them into visible images) that is 27% lighter than previous models.

Samsung Electronics and Samsung Medison also designed their exhibition booth simply to support their eco-friendly vision of ‘Sustainable Daily Life.’ The eco-friendly booth was decorated with recyclable paper display stands. Previously, Samsung promoted an eco-friendly project and developed a cushioning packaging structure that replaces Styrofoam used in product packaging with paper-based corrugated cardboard and corrugated cardboard laminates.

Yoo Kyu-tae, Vice President and Head of Strategic Marketing Team at Samsung Electronics’ Medical Device Business Division and Samsung Medison’s Strategic Marketing Team, said, “Samsung medical devices are actively pursuing technological innovations in various fields to meet customer demands. We will continue eco-friendly management by considering carbon reduction and resource circulation from the product design stage to packaging and exhibition.”
