A wildfire that broke out on Apsan Mountain in Daegu has not been extinguished, and forest authorities are continuing firefighting operations overnight.
On the 4th, the Korea Forest Service and Dalseo District announced that a fire of unknown cause broke out around 6:05 PM in Apsan (San 306), Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu.
The wildfire started at the boundary between Nam-gu and Dalseo-gu (San 10-1, Songhyeon-dong, Dalseo-gu, and the third ridge of Daedeoksan) and spread to the forest in the direction of Songhyeon-dong, Dalseo-gu.

By 8:15 PM, the fire line was approximately 150 meters long, but by 8:35 PM, 20 minutes later, it was estimated by the Korea Forest Service to have reduced to 90 meters.
Forest authorities deployed two helicopters immediately after the fire broke out, but due to sunset, they conducted water spraying operations twice before withdrawing.
At the site, an east wind with a speed of 2 m/s is blowing. A total of 671 personnel, including 67 firefighters, 399 public officials, and 197 fire service members, along with 55 wildfire firefighting vehicles, have been deployed to extinguish the fire.
There are densely packed apartments and residential areas within 300 to 400 meters of the fire site, and hundreds of reports were received immediately after the fire broke out, according to fire authorities.
There have been no evacuations of residents reported so far.
The Daegu city government informed residents around 7:45 PM to "be cautious of safety" as firefighting efforts are underway due to the wildfire.
The Korea Forest Service plans to deploy ground personnel to complete the main fire suppression overnight.
