The Gyeonggi Province Fire Department will conduct on-site inspections of large construction sites to prevent fires during the spring season. They will also support 'pictograms' that convey information through images for logistics warehouses and other facilities. Additionally, fire safety administrative guidance will be provided for factories that are over 20 years old.
The Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 5th that they will establish and implement a 'Spring Fire Prevention Plan' until the end of May.
First, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters will carry out safety management on-site inspections targeting large-scale construction sites. Various fire safety education programs will also be promoted for workers and related personnel. In densely packed logistics warehouses, evacuation routes and emergency exit pictograms will be installed as measures to improve evacuation environments.
Furthermore, fire safety administrative guidance and safety education will be conducted for factory facilities that are over 20 years old. In particular, one small business in the province will be selected to improve safety management and present a model case.
Moreover, for fire-vulnerable residential areas such as residential vinyl greenhouses, containers, and goshiwon (small lodging houses), on-site guidance visits will be conducted at least once a month, and joint safety consultations with related agencies on electricity and gas will be carried out.
Jo Seon-ho, head of the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Considering social characteristics, we plan to strengthen customized safety management for multi-use facilities, lodging facilities, and event venues," and urged, "Since fires caused by carelessness are frequent in spring, we ask residents to comply with basic fire safety rules."
Meanwhile, looking at seasonal fire occurrences in the province over the past five years, winter accounted for the highest number with 12,886 cases, representing 28.8%. However, spring also recorded 12,405 cases, or 27.7%, confirming it as a fire-vulnerable season.
