Jeon Ji-yong, president of Kyungbok University, held an inauguration ceremony at the Namyangju Campus Udang Art Hall on the 2nd and began his four-year term.
In his inaugural speech, President Jeon expressed sincere gratitude and respect for "the dedicated efforts of all Kyungbok University members who have worked hard for the development of the school," and promised, "We will prepare and promote three development plans to overcome the crisis we face and lead the trend of the times through educational innovation."
President Jeon presented three development plans: ▲ fostering 'digital community leaders capable of collaboration and communication' in the era of AI and the 4th Industrial Revolution ▲ improving the qualitative level of educational services and completing personalized curricula and educational analysis platforms ▲ establishing a shared innovation industry-academia-research ecosystem, an essential factor determining university competitiveness and future survival.
Park Soo-young, member of the National Assembly (People Power Party, Busan Nam-gu Gap), said in a congratulatory speech at the inauguration ceremony, "The population is decreasing, and there are many complaints from industries about employees," adding, "I am confident that with the inauguration of a young and dynamic president, Kyungbok University will grow and develop into a global university leading South Korea, and I will also strive for the development of Kyungbok University."
President Jeon was appointed as the 8th president of Kyungbok University by the school foundation in February. His term is four years, from March 1, 2023, to February 28, 2027.
After graduating from the Department of Education at The George Washington University in the United States, President Jeon earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the same university. After joining Kyungbok University as a professor, he served as director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, director of planning, vice president, and served as the 6th and 7th president.
He is also actively involved in various academic and external activities in the field of education, including serving as a director of the Korea Council for College Education and a member of the Accreditation Committee for Junior Colleges.
