On Samiljeol (March 1st Movement Day), some Instagram users reported this issue to Professor Seo.

Upon verification, an error was indeed found where searching for 'Korean Flag' in Instagram's Story GIF image search displays the 'Rising Sun Flag.'

Professor Seo said, "During Samiljeol and Gwangbokjeol (Liberation Day), many reports of errors related to the Taegukgi come in from both domestic and international sources."

He added, "Nowadays, while offline flag hoisting on national holidays is important, younger generations often display the Taegukgi on their own SNS accounts."

In particular, Professor Seo mentioned, "Because of this, people reported the Taegukgi image search error on Instagram, one of the most widely used SNS platforms worldwide, and I urged correction through protest DMs."

Over the past several years, Professor Seo's team has conducted campaigns to correct misused Taegukgi designs worldwide based on reports from netizens.

Professor Seo stated, "We have found Taegukgi errors in numerous places such as the 2022 Qatar World Cup Asian qualifiers bracket and apps that calculate exchange rates by country," adding, "We are steadily making changes through protests."
