Kakao Brain announced the launch of its ultra-large language model koGPT in the first half of this year and revealed its future vision.
On the 3rd, Kakao Brain announced that it held its corporate briefing 'Unthinkable Question with Kakao Brain.' The event, which was broadcast live on its YouTube channel for about 1 hour and 30 minutes the previous day, consisted of ▲ introduction of Kakao Brain ▲ introduction of major business divisions such as Karlo, healthcare, and language models ▲ Q&A session.
Kim Il-du, CEO of Kakao Brain, introduced Kakao Brain as an ‘ultra-large generative AI company’ and presented this year’s challenges for Kakao Brain, including ▲ unveiling new products of 'Karlo' and introducing the Karlo 100X Project ▲ launching healthcare AI diagnostic services ▲ securing language model and chatbot technologies.
He explained, “We will continuously challenge ourselves to enable people to lead better lives by utilizing our AI technology and continue the company’s vision of ‘Unthinkable Question.’”
Kim Kwang-seop, CTO of Kakao Brain, described KoGPT as “Kakao Brain’s ultra-large AI language model that understands Korean both lexically and contextually to provide users with the desired results,” and announced the launch of the ultra-large language model in the first half of this year.
Kim Jae-in, head of Kakao Brain’s Karlo Business Division, said, “We will make Kakao Brain’s ultra-large image generation AI technology a global leader in the image generation AI field,” and added, “In the first half of this year, we will introduce the Korean version of Karlo and an AI profile creation feature using ‘B^ DISCOVER.’” He also said, “To expand the ecosystem in the image generation AI field, we plan to start the ‘Karlo 100X Project’ in the first half of this year, selecting and supporting domestic startups centered around Karlo technology.”
CHO Bae-ung introduced Kakao Brain’s AI healthcare business, stating, “Our goal this year is to release a research demo that generates draft reports for chest X-ray medical images,” and explained, “In addition to improving the completeness of draft report generation technology, we are considering expanding to various modalities such as CT, MRI, and ultrasound starting from this.”
Lee Yoo-han, leader in charge of Kakao Brain’s AI drug discovery research, announced, “Kakao Brain aims to shorten the drug discovery process, which used to take 5 to 10 years, to 2 to 3 years to promote healthy lives and happiness for humanity,” and added, “We will contribute to reliable new drug development by reinforcing the professional techniques currently used in Kakao Brain’s AI models.”
