World Cup Park, Recruiting Students for Sky Insect School Participation

Recruitment for Participants in Curriculum-Linked Program

The Seoul Western Park Leisure Center announced on the 3rd that it is recruiting participants for the Haneul Insect School until the 19th, where participants can observe various insects during spring, summer, and autumn and learn about the roles of insects in nature at Haneul Park, a location well known for the Seoul Eulssae Festival.

Haneul Park, located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, is planted with 73,000㎡ of silver grass, a type of grass plant, where visitors can observe beetles, dragonflies, grasshoppers, and crickets. In autumn, it is also a place to observe the rare plant 'Yago,' which can be seen in the silver grass fields of Jeju Island.

The Haneul Insect School is a program combining theory and field experience (15 sessions annually) that allows participants to observe insects living in Haneul Park from spring to autumn over eight months and learn about the roles of insects in nature. This year, parent participation classes (twice a year) will also be held.

The Haneul Insect School is open to any elementary school students in grades 4 to 6 residing in Seoul. Applications can be made by making a reservation through the Seoul Public Service Reservation system by the 19th and submitting the application via email to the person in charge.

Lee Yong-nam, director of the Western Park Leisure Center, said, "It is ecologically significant that various insects can be observed in a place that was once a landfill," and added, "We hope that children who apply for the Haneul Insect School will have a meaningful opportunity to observe and explore insects at Haneul Park."
