Busan Gijang-gun Launches Campaign to Actively Identify Welfare Blind Spots

Busan Gijang-gun promoted a public-private joint campaign to actively discover welfare blind spots in connection with the reception of the 3rd Gijang-type Disaster Basic Income.

This campaign was promoted to help residents visiting during the disaster basic income visit application period understand the discovery of welfare blind spots and to jointly identify neighbors in need within the district.

First, at the Gijang-eup Administrative Welfare Center, a welfare blind spot discovery promotion campaign was conducted for two days from the 23rd to the 24th of last month in cooperation with the Gijang-eup Community Security Council.

The main activities included placing promotional banners and various welfare project leaflets at the Gijang-type disaster relief fund reception desk, and Community Security Council members distributing promotional items with messages about discovering blind spots to encourage the identification of households in crisis.

Additionally, about 500 promotional materials were distributed, providing information on emergency welfare support in crisis situations and contact details for the Administrative Welfare Center where welfare consultations are available, offering ways to request help.

Furthermore, they actively urged people to pay attention to neighbors in welfare blind spots and to immediately report to the Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center if they discover neighbors in need of help.

The Gijang-gun Mental Health Welfare Center also conducted simple depression screenings for visiting clients, with a total of 335 residents participating. Among them, 28 high-risk individuals identified will be provided with customized services such as mental health counseling.

Choi Jin-ho, chairman of the Jeonggwan-eup Community Security Council, said, “It is meaningful that the public and private sectors are working together to discover and care for neighbors in welfare blind spots,” and added, “The Community Security Council will take the lead in establishing a welfare safety net in the community.”
