The appointees, selected through a public recruitment process last November, include a total of nine members: five specialists in fields such as civil engineering, architecture, urban planning, environment, accounting, and taxation, and four general members who propose improvements for citizen inconveniences.

The Citizen Auditors perform roles such as participating in comprehensive or partial audits and consultations, addressing daily citizen inconveniences, enhancing public officials' integrity, proposing corrections for illegal or unfair administrative matters, and identifying corruption-inducing systems and practices.

Additionally, they act as an external body that proposes and cooperates on necessary matters for city development, including mobile inspections to prevent disaster safety accidents and poor construction, thereby protecting citizens' valuable lives and property.

Deputy Mayor Kang Young-gu, during the meeting following the appointment ceremony, mentioned the results of this year's Integrity Evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and requested active participation from the Citizen Auditors to improve integrity.

Deputy Mayor Kang said, "I expect the Integrity Citizen Auditors to faithfully fulfill their roles as representatives protecting citizens' rights, contributing to the development of city audit administration and the restoration of integrity," and added, "We will actively cooperate as private partners to realize a corruption-free and transparent Naju."
