Gyeongnam FC Secures 1-0 Victory Amid Cheers from Over 10,000 Fans

First Home Season Opener Against Bucheon FC

Gyeongnam FC signaled its revival by securing a 1-0 victory over Bucheon FC in the 2023 home opener on the 1st.


According to Gyeongnam Province, about 10,000 people gathered at the opening ceremony held at Changwon Football Center, including Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, Kim Jin-bu, Chairman of the Provincial Council, Kim Jae-woong, Chairman of the Culture and Welfare Committee, Gyeongnam FC directors, and football fans.


Spectators who had been unable to attend the stadium due to COVID-19 enjoyed the football match with their families, lovers, friends, and colleagues, while also taking part in events such as food trucks and football experience zones.

Governor Park Wan-su said, “We, along with the residents, cheer for the players to fully demonstrate the skills they have honed under Coach Seol Ki-hyeon,” adding, “I hope Gyeongnam FC will become a club loved by the residents, fueled by the passionate support of the audience.”


Chairman Kim stated, “We apologize for the concerns caused to the residents due to past unfortunate incidents, and the committee will also contribute to reform and good results,” and added, “We hope the residents will send much interest, love, and encouragement to Gyeongnam FC.”


After the match, Gyeongnam FC evaluated, “We were able to secure the victory by strengthening the defensive weaknesses pointed out by Coach Seol and showing unity among the coach, staff, and players.”

Earlier, on the 27th of last month, Gyeongnam FC held a season launch ceremony, expressing their determination to newly establish the club through efficient management and reform.


They also pledged to become a club loved by residents and fans and to achieve promotion to the first division.


Gyeongnam FC will play their next home game against Chungbuk Cheongju FC at 4 p.m. on the 18th at Changwon Football Center.
