Directly Riding the Seomyeon-Direction Rural Bus to Examine Livelihood Issues

Jang Chung-nam, the governor of Namhae County, Gyeongnam, boarded the '1000-won bus' heading towards Seomyeon at the Namhae-eup intersection on the morning of the 2nd to check on public livelihood issues related to the implementation of a flat fare system for rural buses, charging 1000 won regardless of distance.


The elderly passengers met on the bus said, "These days, with electricity bills, heating costs, and food expenses all rising, the 1000-won bus is like a blessing in a drought, and we are very grateful," adding, "There is no burden in using the bus, and it has become very convenient as we no longer have to prepare change," expressing great approval for the implementation of the flat fare system.

According to Namhae County, the rural bus fare, which was previously charged up to 5500 won depending on the distance, has been reduced to a much cheaper flat fare of 1000 won for adults and 500 won for youth and children, compared to the previous basic fare (general 1450 won) with the implementation of the flat fare system.


Governor Jang said, "With the implementation of the 1000-won flat fare system, not only residents but also tourists visiting Namhae County can use rural buses at a much lighter fare, which will greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy," and added, "We will continue to listen openly to various inconveniences and suggestions from residents in their living spaces and actively reflect them in county administration."
