"Lady Gaga Sued for Not Paying $600 Million Reward for Finding Dog"

Woman Involved in Pet Dog Theft Files Lawsuit
"Broke Promise of Unconditional Compensation"

Pop star Lady Gaga has been sued for allegedly failing to pay a reward related to the theft of her pet dogs.

On the 27th of last month (local time), the British daily The Guardian reported that Jennifer McBride recently filed a lawsuit in a Los Angeles court claiming that she returned Lady Gaga's two French Bulldogs but did not receive the promised reward.

The woman also claimed to have suffered "emotional distress" from the incident and demanded $1.5 million (approximately 1.98 billion KRW) in damages, including legal fees, The Guardian reported.

In February 2021, Lady Gaga's assistant was seriously injured by gunfire from robbers while walking two of the three French Bulldogs. During the chaos, two of the French Bulldogs were stolen.

In response, Gaga offered a $500,000 (approximately 660 million KRW) reward to anyone who could provide information about the whereabouts of her dogs. Two days after the robbery, McBride brought the stolen dogs to the police station. At the time, the police stated that McBride did not appear to be involved in the theft.

However, McBride was soon charged with receiving stolen property and aiding attempted murder.

Michelle Hanisch, Los Angeles District Attorney, told NBC, "Based on the evidence submitted, McBride knew the dogs were stolen property from the robbery," adding, "The evidence shows McBride had known at least two accomplices for years."

Among the three men who stole the French Bulldogs, the main perpetrator James Howard Jackson, who shot the assistant, was sentenced to 21 years in prison. The other two accomplices who took the dogs were sentenced to 4 and 6 years, respectively.

McBride did not contest receiving the stolen property in court and was sentenced to two years of probation.
