94% Increase Compared to Last Year
Effect of New Business Expansion and Service Improvement
"This Year, We Must Align with the Growing Demand for Overseas Travel"
Travel and leisure platform Yanolja announced on the 2nd that its operating profit last year was 30.1 billion KRW, a 94% increase compared to the previous year. It has recorded profits for four consecutive years since 2019. During the same period, sales increased by 49% to 305.9 billion KRW.
Yanolja was valued at approximately 1.2 trillion KRW in April last year. The company attributes the improved performance to launching various new businesses and enhancing services to increase customer value for travel and leisure consumers.
In the domestic travel sector, the trend of relaxing in premium accommodations led to a surge in hotel and pool villa bookings last year. A Yanolja representative stated, "The domestic travel sector's performance was driven by cross-selling of premium accommodations and mobility services." Customers who visited the accommodation category also purchased mobility services, resulting in domestic rental car and domestic airline ticket sales increasing about tenfold compared to the previous year.
The company added that new businesses such as 'space rental,' which rents party rooms or studios by the hour, and 'Home & Villa,' which offers exclusive-use accommodations, have settled in well. Additionally, expanding overseas accommodations, international flights, and 'flight + accommodation (overseas special deals)' contributed to growth.
Yanolja plans to strengthen its outbound travel segment (Koreans traveling abroad) this year, anticipating a recovery in overseas travel. The company aims to expand its core target countries, supply reasonably priced products, and broaden combined accommodation and flight packages from Asian destinations to the South Pacific, including Guam.
Jung Myung-hoon, CEO of Yanolja, said, "Despite fierce platform competition last year, Yanolja successfully demonstrated 'sustainable growth.' We will proactively prepare for the overseas travel business and continue to maintain our position as a leading travel platform."
