Yeongdeungpo-gu, Opening of National and Public Ato Childcare Center

Yeongdeungpo-gu, Opening of National and Public Ato Childcare Center

National and Public Ato Daycare Center Opens on the 2nd... Expanding to a Total of 83 National and Public Centers

Two-story building with a total floor area of 1,154㎡... Capacity for 88 children aged 0 to 5

Creating a childcare city by meeting public childcare demand and providing high-quality childcare services

Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that on the 2nd, it opened the national and public 'Ato Daycare Center' in Dangsan 1-dong, accelerating efforts to make the city more child-friendly.

Since last year, the district has been promoting the expansion of national and public daycare centers in areas with high public childcare demand. After opening two national and public daycare centers last year (Shingil The Sharp Haeneul Daycare Center and Samhwan Daycare Center), it has opened one more national and public Ato Daycare Center in time for the enrollment season just over two months into this year.

As a result, the total number of national and public daycare centers in the area has expanded to 83.

The newly opened Ato Daycare Center is located within the management building of Dangsan-dong Youth Housing (Dangsan Forena), a two-story building with a total floor area of 1,154㎡. It accepts children aged 0 to 5, with a total capacity of 88.

Before opening, the district carefully reviewed interior remodeling and equipment purchases together with the director and childcare teachers, and held an orientation for parents on February 23rd.

The district plans to continue expanding national and public daycare centers through various methods such as new construction, converting private facilities to public, and long-term leasing of management buildings, considering regional balance. The goal is to create a childcare environment that satisfies both parents and children by meeting public childcare demand and providing high-quality childcare services.

Additionally, the district supports childcare staff welfare by providing holiday leave pay, research and development funds, and allowances for integrated daycare centers for children with disabilities, boosting staff morale and improving the quality of childcare services.

Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “We are working on improving the childcare environment in many ways, including expanding excellent daycare centers and continuous facility management. We will do our best to create a leading childcare city where parents can trust and safely leave their children.”

Available from 1 PM to 8 PM during school terms... Applications accepted via Our Neighborhood Care Portal

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) opened and began operating the ‘Dongdaemun-gu 7th Branch Our Neighborhood Care Center’ on the 2nd to address the care gap for elementary school students at the start of the new semester.

Our Neighborhood Care Center is a care facility offering play and rest where elementary school children (ages 6 to 12) can use the service regardless of income, at their desired times.

Since 2019, the district has been establishing Our Neighborhood Care Centers near homes and schools to alleviate the care gap and reduce parenting burdens.

The newly opened ‘Dongdaemun-gu 7th Branch Our Neighborhood Care Center’ is located on the first floor of the community center in Building 108 of Raemian Crecity Apartment (65 Sagajeong-ro, Jeonnong 1-dong). It consists of spaces for quiet and active activities, office space, and a kitchen.

The center provides ‘regular care’ services through various learning and play programs led by professional staff including the center director and care teachers, and also offers ‘temporary care’ services for irregular use due to urgent reasons.

The ‘Dongdaemun-gu 7th Branch Our Neighborhood Care Center’ operates Monday through Friday. During school terms, it is the only center in the area piloting hours from 1 PM to 8 PM. During vacations, it is open from 9 AM to 6 PM. The fee is 50,000 KRW per month for regular care, including snacks, and 2,500 KRW per day for temporary care.

Applications and detailed information about using Our Neighborhood Care Center can be found on the Our Neighborhood Care Portal.

Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “I hope the 7th Branch Our Neighborhood Care Center becomes a comfortable resting place like home for children and a reliable care space for parents. We will do our best to create a seamless care environment so that families can give birth to and raise children with peace of mind.”

Seodaemun-gu Launches 'Senior Health Companion Primary Care Physician Project' with Local Clinics

Signed MOUs with 11 Local Clinics (Primary Care Institutions)

Organically Linking Professional Treatment by Local Primary Care Physicians with Health Management by Public Health Center

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) is launching the ‘Senior Health Companion Primary Care Physician Project’ this month in cooperation with the Seodaemun-gu Medical Association.

The project aims to provide tailored comprehensive health services so that elderly residents can live healthily and independently in the community.

After recruiting participants last month, the district selected 11 local clinics (primary care institutions) wishing to participate and signed MOUs with them.

Accordingly, elderly patients who need nutrition management, rehabilitation treatment, welfare counseling, or lifestyle improvement and visit these clinics will be connected to the Seodaemun-gu Public Health Center.

Priority management is given to elderly individuals living alone with two or more chronic diseases.

The ‘Health Care Team’ at the public health center, composed of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, physical therapists, and social workers, thoroughly reviews the referred patients’ chronic diseases, nutritional status, fall risk, and social needs, and provides intensive home visits for two months.

Nutritionists guide proper dietary habits and provide nutritional supplements; physical therapists assess physical ability and rehabilitation status and conduct gait training; social workers connect patients with necessary welfare resources.

After two months of service, blood pressure and blood sugar control, proper medication adherence, and nutritional status improvements are re-evaluated and compared to previous results to decide whether to continue support.

Seodaemun-gu Public Health Center Director Park Seon-jeong said, “By organically linking professional treatment from local primary care physicians with health management from the public health center, we aim to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and institutionalizations of seniors and support them to live healthily in the community.”
