Passenger Car Completely Burned on Seoul-Yangyang Expressway... No Casualties Reported

At around 4:17 PM on the 1st, a fire broke out in a Grandeur driven by a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on the 3rd lane (variable shoulder) near the Seojong Drowsy Rest Area on the Seoul-bound side of the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway in Seojong-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, and was extinguished after 35 minutes.

The fire completely destroyed Mr. A's passenger car. Mr. A immediately evacuated, and there were no casualties.

The police and fire authorities secured a statement from Mr. A saying, "Smoke came from inside the vehicle while driving, so I stopped the car, and the fire started right after I got out." Based on this, they plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.

Although the driver stopped the vehicle on the shoulder and evacuated without injury, some congestion occurred due to slow-moving vehicles in the area.
